In the last blog we talked about what are the 5 worst habits that you must avoid with regards to hair in order to keep them intact and healthy. Now, in this article, we will be discussing the 5 best solutions as a part of your hair care routine. We call it solution and not tip’s because if you have been following an unhealthy hair routine, then undoubtedly, you would require these solutions to get things on the right track. Without wasting any further time, let’s get into it:

  • Hair exercise (Balayam)- Well, few claim that this exercise tip is not effective but we believe, you must only trust upon something once you have witnessed the result. Quite famous Bollywood movie, Bala, also depicted this as one of the activities carried by the protagonist to prevent hair fall. Now we are not saying that since it has been in a movie so it is true (lol) but on the basis of people claim. Balayam, is an exercise in which you rub finger nails against each other for atleast 10-15 minutes. Disclaimer, you must never do this exercise after having meals and should always be done on empty stomach.

  • Nutritious diet- Just as we say hard work is the key to success, so goes in the case of nutritious diet. A healthy and fulfilling diet (definitely, not laden with sugar coated items, cola drink, fast foods) delivers all the required nutrients by body cells and helps us have a fit body and when we are trying to focus on hair, we must include certain food items on immediate basis, if at all we have not been eating that. Hair is composed of protein hence, protein rich foods like paneer, tofu, rajma (kidney beans), chhole (chickpeas), various pulses (dal), green leafy vegetables, chicken, fish must be included in diet to supplement protein; Oats, millets, cornflakes are a good source of complex carbohydrates; Dry fruits like almonds, cashews, peanuts, walnut are a good source of healthy fat; Iron can be extracted from amla (indian gooseberry), lemon.

  • Body Massage- Massage has a deep and an intricate connection on the health of our hair. In fact, massage is good for the body in totality. Frequent head massage helps in regulating blood flow to the scalp, as a result strengthening our hair follicles. Apart from head massage, we must have body massage 3-4 times in a week. When massaging the chest and above section, the direction of massage should be downwards (towards the heart) and when massaging belly and below part, direction must be upwards (towards the heart). Directions are important as they regulate blood stream towards the heart. You must shampoo only once or twice in a week and should always use a conditioner after shampooing as it moisturises dry scalp and prevents frizzy hair.

  • Overall nourishment- While frequent shampooing, conditioning, pat drying and various other steps are important, but you must take up other activities as well. There are a number of hair masks which you can also give a try for and give an extra smile to your hair. Hair mask recipe: Take 1-2 tbsp of coconut oil, add 1 tsp of aloe vera gel, 1tsp honey and 1 tsp lemon juice, now mix it properly and apply gently throughout the hair, keep it applied for 20-25 mins and then wash it off with a natural shampoo.
